Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Sugar! Sugar!

Time to bring out the child in you...the bright-sunshine feel of sunflowers & daisies! With the weekend upon us, perfect timing for a picnic in the park, at the beach or simply right in your own back yard. If that will fit your schedule, be sure your picnic basket holds bags or containers of fresh-baked cookies!

Daisy Sugar Cookies recipe!
Sugar Cookie Day is about unleashing your inner child and celebrating the simple sugary-goodness of this traditional treat. In the 1700s, a group of German settlers arrived in Pennsylvania, and by combining sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla and baking soda they created a simple yet delicious food, now known as the Sugar Cookie. Of course, the original recipe never fails to please, but these days it’s easy to give it a modern twist – creating new designs, adding sprinkles, tossing in chocolate chips and glazing the top with creamy frosting! Jazz it up any way you like!
If you have kids, sugar cookies provide great entertainment; just give them the dough, cookie cutters, an assortment of toppings and let their imaginations run wild!
