Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

'Pied' Drupelets

 for 'Amazing August' fun!

This is the first of two celebrations during the month of August for drupelets! What is a drupelet? you might ask. A druplelet to put it simply is "one of the individual parts of an aggregate fruit." This definition might beg its own question, What is an aggregate fruit? By definition, an aggregate fruit is "a fruit formed from several carpels derived from the same flower." At this point, you might even question the meaning of carpels in relation to flowers. A carpel is the "female reproductive organ of a flower...it may occur singly or as one of a group." Without any further ado, let's just get to the 'fruit' of the matter, which for this celebration is...the raspberry, 'pied' in the sense of being baked or chilled in a pie!

August 1 is...
