Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. Alicia Augello Cook was born in the area of New York City referred to as Hell's Kitchen. Better known by her stage name Alicia Keys, she began her career in entertainment with an appearance on 'The Cosby Show' at the tender age of four. Keys attracted attention of record company executives while she was still attending high school. She signed with Arista Records in 1998. But it wasn't until 2001 that Keys stormed onto the music scene with her debut album Songs in A Minor that went platinum five times over. Since then, the three octave singer has picked up nine Grammy awards, and even written soundtracks for the seminal 'The Wire' and Bond's 'Quantum of Solace.' With a seemingly unstoppable career, she won the Grammy for Best R&B Album in 2014.
