Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Remembrances, Reminders & Reflections

The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying, 'Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and yelling, 'You want a piece of me?' ~Robin Williams

On Monday, August 11, 2014, the apparent suicide of comic genius Robin Williams shocked the nation, if not the world. While news of the tragic death stunned family, friends and fans of Williams around the globe, the sadness has been overcome to some degree with remembrances of times past, reminders of the effects of alcoholism and depression, and reflections on the importance of planning ahead.

*Update 8/11/2014: Susan Schneider has released the following statement: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
